Karina started daycare in the middle of February. She cried a bit but did much better than expected. However, poor thing came home with pink eye and RSV right away. It just confirmed why we chose to keep her out of daycare for the first year. Luckily we had the great help and care of Meera Aunty to take care of her at home the first year.
Although Karina started to enjoy playing with the kids at daycare and doing arts and crafts, she was only there 2-3 days of the first week and a half as she was so sick. Avva, ThaTha and Meera Aunty kept her in Pittsburgh and nursed her back to health before Meera Aunty left for India. I think it was Karina's way to try and make one last attempt to keeping Aunty. Thanks for all your help!
Tejas is having a little bit of a hard time adjusting to Aunty's departure. He was upset when we rearranged the beds and cried "what are you doing to Meera Aunty's bed?!?". He is also overusing the word no and trying to get our attention. We think it might have to do with the fact that he thought Karina belonged to Meera Aunty and not Seth and me.
Karina has now become an expert crawler and manages to get into trouble just as much as her brother. She finds it hilarious to throw her passy out of the crib and make us search for it or lean over her high chair and drop food on the floor. Karina loves to get excited and point to things she likes or wants. We all want to eat that cute little finger.
Even though Karina's head is very crooked, we resisted getting a helmet for a long time as we kept hoping it would get better on its own and that we wouldn't notice it once her hair grew in. However, she has very fine hair and it still shows through so we decided rather than have a resentful teen (inevitable, I know but we can only try) we would correct it while we had a chance. Her brother was being so sweet and saying "beautiful hat" and "oh so cute" and rubbing her head when she came home with it on. She listens to her brother. so she adjusted to the helmet very quickly with little to no problems. Kids are amazing.
Tejas loves to help Mommy and Daddy cook. He gets up on the stool and wears the little apron that his Oma and Grandpa got him. He then pours the ingredients into the bowl and can't wait to lick the beaters. He keeps asking "can I lick it" throughout the whole process and is so excited to eat the yummy things he cooks.
Tejas is also very funny in the mornings. He hates getting up and wishes he could stay home and watch TV so many mornings he whines "I don't want to go to work!". Poor kid things daycare is work and will be going to work for many years to come!
